Social Networks

Today my computer class talked about using social networks on the internet.

I do not belong to any of the social networks. The reason why not is basically I never had a practical reason to. I suppose if I did a lot of chit chat it would come in handy. Now if I were a merchant or trying to sell something a social network would be a way to reach hundreds if not thousands of people all over the world to market my product. Just to speak to a person the telephone is the way for me or even writing a letter still works. If I knew this person would be inconvenienced by a phone call and I did not require an immediate response I could send an e-mail or a text message.

GOOD NEWS

I can finally do blogs from home. A friend of my brother did something with the computer that cleared some viruses or what ever. This proves to be very helpful. Before I was able to do this at the school library only. As I am writing this blog, I'm wondering if now I can also do the mind maps. I'll try that next.

Computers are such a mystery to me but I am catching on to more and more. I'm even getting more familiar with the keyboard, I type a little faster. Sometimes I find myself not looking the keyboard.

Before this class all I ever did on the computer was fill out job applications and did that with the help of the people at the workforce center.

I am doing better than I expected.

I just took my midterm test from another class and got an A. I am really surprised. I am doing as well as I am. When I lost my job at Universal Studios, I didn't know what I was going to do.

I started job hunting. I went to the Workforce building near the Florida Mall every day for months to fill out job applications on the Internet. I literally filled out hundreds of applications.

When filling out applications on line, sometimes you run into an ad asking if you are interested in furthering your education. The thing about that, you must respond in order to proceed with the application.

Subsequently I started receiving phone calls from educational institutions and turned them all down except one. I chose to further my education at CITY COLLEGE. I am glad I made that decision. I thank Clair in the office for that. Her presentation was excellent and I was convinced that it was the right thing to do. "I Love Her".

This might not mean so much to anyone else but I am actually getting a grasp on how to use the computer and the internet, thanks our Mrs. Erika. This helps me do better with my other class assignments. I just recently figured out how I can copy documents from the internet then paste them in my compose email from home where I don't have access to a printer so later I can print them once I get to the school library. I am so proud of me.
